Offense Came To Play
The Eph offense put up 24 points, gained 362 yards and scored on 3 of 4 red zone opportunities against the Continentals. Having lost leading rusher Mario Fischetti for the season, the Ephs still piled up 141 yards on the ground and 221 in the air, many of them after the catch, like Sam Jaffe’s 55 yard touchdown reception from Owen McHugh. Jon Oris accounted for 150 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, while the offensive line allowed no sacks by Hamilton.
Excellent Team D, Great Scott
Williams played great team defense against Hamilton, giving up no gains over 30 yards and no touchdowns through the air. Linebacker Ethan Scott led the team with 9 tackles and an interception shortly before half-time that set up an Eph score. Six other Eph defenders had at least 5 tackles in the game (George Papadopoulos, Justice McGrail, Tim Landolfi, James Hemmer, Drew Michalek and Cameron Smith).
NESCAC Parity
After five conference games Tufts, Middlebury and Trinity all sit at 4-1. Wesleyan, Bowdoin and Colby are 3-2, while Williams and some other team are 2-3. Bates and Hamilton are still winless. The final weekend of the season on Nov 11 includes a matchup between Tufts and Middlebury. It could be for the conference crown, if the Jumbos and Panthers win out and Williams defeats Trinity at Farley-Lamb this Saturday.
